The Island Nation of Palau, which relies primarily on tourism for its economy, is the first country to institute an eco-pledge upon arrival in the country. When tourists arrive in Palau they receive a stamped pledge, as opposed to the typical entry stamp, that looks like a poem, with a set of vows to the youth of Palau. The enter the country, everyone must sign off on promises to “tread lightly, act kindly, and explore mindfully.”
