{"id":613,"date":"2019-10-14T03:40:47","date_gmt":"2019-10-14T03:40:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diversity.csl.org\/?p=613"},"modified":"2019-10-14T03:40:47","modified_gmt":"2019-10-14T03:40:47","slug":"10-million-tithers-donate-more-than-50-billion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csl.org\/diversity\/10-million-tithers-donate-more-than-50-billion\/","title":{"rendered":"10 Million Tithers Donate More Than $50 Billion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are an estimated 10 million tithers in America that donate\nmore than $50 billion annually to religious and charitable causes.&nbsp; A new 5-year constituency study released by the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/store.churchlawtodaystore.com\/20stofplrere1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">State of the Plate<\/a>&nbsp;gives an inside, in-depth\nlook at the financial, giving, and spiritual practices of 4,413 people who\ndonate 10% or more each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Survey participants came from all 50 states, all types of\nchurches, and all income levels. The full report, &#8220;<em>20 Truths about Tithers<\/em>,&#8221;\nprovides 27 pages of valuable information on this important group of givers for\nthe media, pastors, church, and non-profit leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While many who donate 10% or\nmore may not consider themselves &#8220;tithers&#8221; because of its connection\nto Old Testament teaching, this practice has been observed by many devoted\nChristians for centuries and is still voluntarily practiced by millions today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notable&nbsp;<em>State of the Plate<\/em>&nbsp;findings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>77% of those who &#8220;tithe&#8221; gives 11%-20% or more of their\nincome, far more than the baseline of 10%.<\/li><li>97% make it a priority to give to their local church.<\/li><li>70% &#8220;tithe&#8221; based on their gross income, not their net.<\/li><li>63% started giving 10% or more between childhood and their\ntwenties<\/li><li>Tithers carry much less debt than most people and are financially\nbetter off than Christian non-tithers\u201480% of &#8220;tithers&#8221; have no unpaid\ncredit card bills; 74% have no car payments; 48% own their home; and 28% are completely\ndebt-free.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Invitation\nto Action: <\/strong>Offer\nprosperity classes each year to teach and practice skills development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Affirmation:\n<\/strong>&nbsp;I\nam open and receptive to all the wealth life offers.
