The Holmes Institute\u00ae has an enrollment policy that allows students to enter the program at the beginning of any term.<\/p>\n

Requirements<\/h2>\n

Holmes Institute offers a Master of Arts in Consciousness Studies and a Certificate in Spiritual Education. For prospective students to be admitted to either program, they must have earned a bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Prospective students must also submit two letters of recommendation from a faculty member, employer, or minister\/mentor. Students must also submit a copy of a government-issued photo identification.<\/p>\n

If the bachelor\u2019s degree was earned at an international institution, students are required to have their official transcript evaluated by an organization belonging to NACES to determine whether the degree earned is equivalent to a baccalaureate degree earned in the U.S. If students\u2019 first language is not English, they must pass the TOEFL exam with a minimum of 60 on the paper-based exam (TOEFL PBT) or 72 on the internet-based test (IBT). How to Apply<\/h2>\n

  2. Sealed official transcripts from previously attended universities and college are to be sent to the Administrative Registrar.<\/li>\n
  3. Request two letters of recommendation sent directly to the Administrative Registrar.<\/li>\n
  4. Submit TOEFL test results, if necessary.<\/li>\n
  5. Complete an interview with an admissions officer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    When all application materials are received and the entrance interview is completed, the final decision of admission approval is made by the President of Holmes Institute.<\/p>\n

    After Admissions<\/h2>\n

    Registration and Class Attendance<\/h3>\n

    Students have one year from the date of admission to start their coursework. Beginning with the first academic term of course participation, students have 6 years to meet all degree requirements for graduation. After one year from date of admission, students who do not complete their admission requirements or do not register for coursework must re-apply to the Holmes Institute\u00ae and meet the new admission and program requirements in effect.<\/p>\n

    Class Continuity and Leaves of Absence<\/h3>\n

    Once students have been admitted, begin registering and attending classes, they must take at least one class in at least three of the four quarters each academic year, except as provided below. Students may take one quarter off, without class registration, per year, by notifying his or her Advisor. If a student desires or finds it necessary to take a second quarter off in a given academic year, the student must discuss the situation with the student\u2019s advisor and the request must be approved by the student\u2019s advisor after discussion. If more time off from classes is requested, the student may seek permission for a formal leave of absence from his or her advisor. If approved, the Administrative Registrar and the Executive Committee are informed. Such formal leave of absence must be agreed upon in advance, and may be taken for a period not longer than one year.<\/p>\n
