The “Ops” & Events Report
By Steve Burton, Director of Operations
In this issue I want to thank our wonderful convention committee: Co-chairs Dr. Petra Weldes, Rev. Sherri Quanders, Dr. Michelle Medrano, Rev. John Scott, Dr. Dee Sermons RScP, Rev. Sally Robbins, Rev. Doug LeBow, Tammi Kushner and Joe Martin. Also, I want to thank our Home Office staff and the volunteers for all their hard work. We also had some amazing music, workshops and speakers.

This past spring I had the pleasure of taking over the Events department from Rev. Judy as she took over Rev. Gregory’s departments upon his departure. Judy and the convention committee made some very well thought-out and brave decisions to change the way we conduct events by matching our events to the audience.
With regard to the convention, they made bold changes and brought in expert topic speakers and created dialog discussion groups, and the event sold out twice.

More exciting things are happening with future events. This summer we will conduct at least eight town hall meetings from August 10 to 21 across the United States. We will send out more information soon. We are also working on plans for regional meetings that will focus on our spiritual seeker audience. The annual report for 2014 showed clearly that our ministers and practitioners would like a 2018 Asilomar reunion. We are working on that possibility and will have more information this fall.
During the business meeting at our recent election we had wonderful candidates step forward with a willingness to serve, and to each of them we owe our gratitude. For those not elected I know that we have many other ways for them serve and we look forward to working with them.

RESOLUTIONS RESULTS: All of the nine resolutions passed. Resolutions Two and Nine were passed with amendments. Resolution Nine, the executive realignment resolution, will require input from community members. As I write this, the Leadership Council is preparing a timeline and creating opportunities to serve on teams that will meet this spring and provide recommendations for the realignment. This summer the Leadership Council will convey its proposal to the field and delegates will then vote on the proposal this fall.
Peace and blessings,
Steve Burton
