To become a CSL Licensed Spiritual Practitioner a person must complete a rigorous multi-year required course of study, pass a comprehensive background check and written exam, and be approved by an oral panel consisting of ministers and practitioners. Their licenses are renewed every other year after approval of required continuing education credits and service hours within a CSL-Affiliated Community.

Students who have completed the required six prerequisite courses can qualify for entry into Professional Practitioner Training.  Once completing this training program the student must pass a written exam and an oral panel before being licensed by Centers for Spiritual Living.

Both prerequisite classes and the Practitioner Training Program are offered through local CSL affiliated member communities, as well as through CSL Online Education. If you are affiliated with one of these communities, we suggest reaching out to your community.  If you are not affiliated or are looking for classes that are not currently being offered at your community you may want to take a look at the current classes offered online through CSL Online Education. Anyone can register for prerequisite classes online. Once you have completed your prerequisites you may apply to enter practitioner training either through your local community or through CSL Online Education.

The Practitioner Training Program is offered in two courses, Advanced Consciousness Studies (formerly Prac I) and Professional Practitioner Studies (formerly Prac II). Both courses may be taken either through a Member Community or through the Centers for Spiritual Living Online Education Program.

Anyone is eligible to apply for Advanced Consciousness Studies who has completed 3 prerequisite courses* either through their local member community or through the Online Education Program.

Those looking to continue on into Professional Practitioner Studies must have completed all 6 prerequisite courses and the Advanced Consciousness Studies course.  More info on prerequisite requirements can be found here.

* courses must include a foundational level course and any 2 of the courses listed below:

• Consciousness and the Creative Process
• Powering Your Decisions
• Power of Your Word
• Treatment and Meditation
• Visioning: A Way of Life

If you are already affiliated with a CSL member we recommend speaking with your education director or senior minister about entering practitioner studies through your community. If you are not currently affiliated with a community or your community is not currently planning to offer practitioner training then you can apply (using the button below) to the Practitioner Training Program through CSL Online Education:

The short answer is yes, all licensed practitioners need to have an affiliated CSL member community hold their license. Most often this would be the community where you completed your training and/or the community that you were a part of throughout your training. 

If you are not affiliated with a community at the time of licensing you may qualify to be part of the CSL Virtual Practitioner Program which allows the organization to hold licenses for practitioners without a local community.
