CSL Honors 2024 Earth Day/Month

As part of CSL’s Sacred Activism 2024 Earth Day/Month observation, we asked Centers for Spiritual Living communities to share their event details and photos. The communities highlighted below appear in alphabetical order.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR EARTH DAY?

  • Send your event details and photos to Communications@CSL.org. We’d love to feature your CSL community on this page and social media.

All Things Goddess (Grants Pass, Oregon)

During the monthly “All Things Goddess” gathering for women in Grants Pass, Oregon, the group celebrated Egyptian Goddess Ma’at, Queen of Nature, order, balance, truth, justice and right action. Ma’at’s symbol is the white feather, and we created a beautiful, interactive ritual where women were invited to come up to the altar and bestow upon Ma’at’s altar one of her feathers of truth, representing one of her 42 laws. The enactment was followed by a meditation called “Ma’at: Feather of Truth” from facilitator Karen Tate’s “Goddess Calling” book.

Calgary CSL (Calgary, Alberta, Canada)

We recently planted a tiny forest on our property and want to share some photos of it.

Other activities as reflected below:

April is Earth Month, providing us with an opportunity to prioritize sustainable practices in our daily lives, such as reducing our use of plastic (download a month full of plastic-reducing tips!). It’s also a time for reflection on our social impact and for making commitments to positive change.

CSL Seattle has some tangible ways for you to make an impact this month, and beyond:

Recycle

It’s hard to know how to responsibly dispose of some items. Let us help you by offering this opportunity to drop them all off, and we’ll get them to the right places for you!

  • Recycle Drop Off on Sunday, April 7 and Sunday, April 14 at CSL Seattle. We’re collecting your sometimes hard-to-recycle (clean) Styrofoam, plastic wrap, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, and electronics! Drop items off from 9am-noon at CSL. A list of recyclable items we can take will be at our Create a Better World table in the Lobby and Fellowship Hall, visit our website for more information, or click on the orange highlighted links above.

Donate to Mom & Baby Blessing Bag Drive

  • Spring Mom & Baby Blessing Bag Donation Drive, Sundays, April 14, 21, 28, Drop Off at CSL. Issues that impact the environment have impacts on the people who live here as well. Many of us have access to resources that help us relieve those impacts while others don’t. Our spring donation drive for Mom’s and Babies benefits Mary’s Place, Angeline’s Day Center, and Birthday Dreams. Please donate needed items by bringing items to CSL on the last three Sundays of April.

Participate in Democracy: Register to Vote

  • Democracy Matters Gathering, Sundays, April 14 & April 21, Between and After Services, Fellowship Hall.  Are you a U.S. citizen? Have you registered to vote? Have you moved recently? Make a powerful difference this year by voting! CSL is registering voters on April 14 & 21 after 1st and 2nd service. CSL volunteers will be in the Fellowship Hall to help with your registration and answer your questions about civic involvement.*
*Note: As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all Center for Spiritual Living Seattle events and branding/logo use must be non-partisan and not-for-profit. We cannot endorse any candidate, political party, or campaign.

Celebrate Earth Day!

You can make a difference by cultivating plants this spring!

  • Create a Better World Plant Sale, Sunday, April 21, 9am – noon. On Campus, Under the Front Canopy. April is the prime time to start creating your summer garden! The Create a Better World team invites you to our popup Plant Sale, Sunday, April 21st! Stock up on spring plant starts, house plants, native plants, and many varieties of dahlia tubers all cultivated to thrive in the Northwest.

Want to be more involved? Then collaborate with our Earth Action Committee!

  • Earth Action Information Fair, April 21, 9am-noon, Fellowship Hall. Learn ways of taking care of the Earth and our environment today at an information fair sponsored by the Earth Action Committee. Join us in the Fellowship Hall and let’s discuss ways to create a world that works for everyone!

CSL Tacoma (Washington)

We are engaging our community with the exhortation from our climate action program to take some actions. This was offered in Rev. Drew Ebersole’s “Stubborn Optimism” message on April 14, 2024, that can be found here on YouTube. And of course, this is all connected to our Oneness!
