Three takeaways from CSL Nashville:

  • CSL Nashville offers a vivid example of what becomes possible when a congregation meets transition with consciousness rather than fear. For several years, the community operated without consistent ministerial leadership.

  • CSL Nashville shifted from minister-centric to community-centric leadership. The community members see themselves as co-creators of their spiritual home. They explore new ideas, study together and vision together.

  • When they selected Rev. John Adams as their new senior minister, they ensured his reception by a community of people aligned with each other, grounded and ready. He was able to enter with a sense of continuity and support.

Three takeaways from SOMA:

  • CSL continues to increase its presence across the globe, fueled by spiritual hunger, cultural diversity and a profound desire for a new way of living. The extraordinary rise of Science of Mind Africa speaks to this growth. 

  • What began as a grassroots movement grew into a continent-wide network of study groups, teaching chapters and spiritual communities.

  • At the center of this story is Practitioner Emeritus Michele Taylor. After becoming a practitioner in 2002, she served at her local center, then at Temenos and then remotely at CSL Kenya, each experience preparing her for what would come next.

Three takeaways from Awakening Ways CSL:

  • The center serves approximately 125 active members, with vibrant weekly Sunday gatherings. It’s “church in a box,” with setup, tear-down and volunteer choreography every week

  • Beyond Sundays, Awakening Ways offers an array of Connection Circles that foster belonging and community along with sound healings, grief groups, meditation practices, workshops and certificated classes

  • Rev. Elizabeth Rowley Hogue’s personal practice is disciplined and embodied: prayer, meditation, exercise, visioning and fellowship. Her mantra in moments of challenge is simple: stop, drop and pray.

Three takeaways from CSL South Coastal Teaching Chapter:

  • Not all CSL goodness looks like a Sunday service. Sometimes it looks like a table where many gather, and that’s CSL South Coastal.

  • Along with several co-founders, practitioner Barbara Fuyat envisioned a new spiritual presence in Massachusetts, one that responds to the realities of geography, population and post-pandemic life.

  • Out of this work, something even larger emerged: Luminaria, a New Thought collaborative spanning Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

 

 

Three takeaways from Emerald Valley CSL:

  • More than a Sunday gathering, Emerald Valley is a neighborhood presence, a peace-and-justice hub and a living experiment in what happens when ministry is grounded in mutuality.

  • One of its defining features is a co-ministry model. Rev. Donna Starr and Rev. Lynda Lundry-Starr lead together as complementary expressions.

  • The community purchased and renovated a historic house as its spiritual home and a justice-oriented flex space. Within hours, the community raised the down payment.

  • Lead with inclusion and visibility. Participate in public events that reflect Science of Mind principles.

  • Empower volunteers and leaders. Mentor and train them to take ownership of programs and operational tasks.

  • Build intentional partnerships. Collaborate with community organizations and donors to expand reach, resources and impact.

  • Transform teachings through videos, music and imagery to make spiritual principles accessible, engaging and memorable.

  • Leverage multimedia platforms. Combine online content, radio shows and interactive tools to expand reach while maintaining depth and integrity.

  • Widen your network. Collaborate with other ministers and centers to share content, ideas and best practices.
